I grew up and received my public school education in the 19th City Council district. My family flower shop, Flowers By Peter, has been servicing the NYC community for over fifty years. It’s there that I learned firsthand the impact that public service and local legislation have on the working class people of New York. I received a community service scholarship to attend the University of Michigan for my undergraduate education and George Washington University for my Masters. Afterwards gaining admission to the professional stage actors union and primarily working on Shakespeare productions and educational theatre. The theater business, much like legislating, is very collaborative; I was fortunate to learn not only how to work well under pressure and in the public eye, but other valuable lessons on compromise and adaptability. Currently, I make a living as a theater and humanities professor here in Queens as well as a researcher and writer.
During my run for State Assembly in District 26 this past election cycle, I’m proud to say that my team and I shattered records by securing the most votes of any Republican in the history of the district. I hope to bring my message and goals, which resonated with twenty-three thousand of our neighbors across party lines, into the New York City Council.
