Ivan D. Mossop, Jr, is a Republican candidate campaigning for the City Council seat in District 28 of Southeast Queens, NY
Mr Mossop has served the Greater Jamaica community through various means of Civic Action for more than 50 years. He currently serves as the Recording Secretary of the Rochdale Village House Congress. Formerly the Assistant Treasurer of COMET a civic organization in Maspeth/Elmhurst section of Queens. Mossop formerly as an NYPD Auxiliary Police Officer during 9/11 out of the 107th Precinct in Flushing, NY.
Candidate Mossop ha led efforts to provide VITA pro-bono tax preparation assistance in D28 through the National Association of Black Accountants.
“I have lived, worshiped, studied, worked and volunteered in the Greater Jamaica community for over 50 years. My family’s
legacy of Civic Action spans over 100 years, said Mossop. Our community deserves a leader in the City Council that will serve all the people of District 28, by advocating fiscal prudence to ensure that taxpayer dollars are spent wisely and allocated fairly; and by also bringing our community the services it deserves.”
His vision for Greater Jamaica focuses on three key neglected areas:
CIVIC ACTION FOR COMMUNITY POWER
I intend to encourage the creation of Civic and Block Associations throughout our district. These are proven vehicles able to maintain and improve the quality of life of our community and we need to support them and foster more of the same.
REIGNITE VOTER POWER DISTRICT WIDE
Civic and Block Associations are known to Vot as “blocks” that effectively represent the needs of the community to Elected Officials and hold the Powerful accountable well past election time.
JOBS for HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
Our youth need viable employment options while in school and after graduating. I intend to encourage trade apprenticeships and self-employment. As an Enrolled Agent aka Tax Expert, I will be a strong advocate for YOU, the taxpayer, in the City Council.
